We suspected our 50 gallon direct vent natural gas tank water heater was leaking slowly so we replaced it with a Rinnai tankless heater. Some conclusions:
- We set it to 115 deg F and it is hot enough for us. No issues with the cold lake water that is present in Toronto.
- It’s quiet! Much quieter than our old direct vent blower previously.
- Saves a lot of space.
- We have not had issues with the “cold water sandwich”.
- Hot water takes 5-10 seconds longer to come to a cold tap as compared to previous.
